What it is for

  • A small word at the start marks a real yes or no question

    • Kas te soovite teed või kohvi?

      Would you like tea or coffee?

    • Kas täna vanni teeme?

      Are we taking a bath today?

  • Leave it out and just raise your voice, and it sounds different
  • Common in speeches and opinion writing

Watch out

The little question word is easy to drop, and dropping it can make a plain question sound like you can't believe it.
